- We will have a pot luck supper on July 11th at approx 6:00 bring meat to grill and we will have sweet corn boiling.
- Last year we had a horse shoe tournament with alot of success. Bring your shoes and stakes for a tournament on July 11th at approx. 7:00pm.
All events require participants to be MTHA members. Membership is $10 per year and you may join day of event.
NOTE: The cut off date for dogs to qualify for the 2009 puppy hunts will be that they are born after January 1st 2008.
2009 Open Coon Hunting Championship Rules:
Hunt will be conducted using UKC rules with these exceptions:
- Dogs do not have to be registered.
- Each district will hold a qualification hunt.
- The district director will be the Master of Hounds for the qualifier in their district.
- Qualification hunts will be 1 ˝ hour hunts.
- At each qualifier, a dog will earn points based on what place it gets:
1st = 50 pts
2nd = 45pts
3rd = 40 pts
4th = 35 pts
5th = 30 pts
6th = 25 pts
7th = 20 pts
8th = 15 pts
9th = 10 pts
10th = 5 pts
- In order to qualify a dog must hunt in two qualifiers and the scores from the qualifiers will be averaged. A dog may hunt in more than two qualifiers and the two highest scores will be used to determine the average.
- The top eight dogs will be eligible for the Semi-finals.
- The Semi-finals will be conducted the night before the 2010 Annual Meeting in the district where the annual meeting will be held.
-The Semi-finals will be a one-hour hunt. The cast winners will go on to the finals.
-The finals will be conducted the same night right after the Semi-Finals are finished and will be a one hour hunt.
-The prize money will be one half (1/2) of the entry fees with 75% for first place and 25 for second place
2009 Summer Hunt Rules:
1. Puppies born after January 1st, 2008
2. All hunts are 3 hours long. Start time will be approx. 1/2 hour before sunrise.
3. $25.00 entry fee per hound. Must be a MTHA member (youths under 17 do not have to be members)
4. 20 dog’s maximum per hunt. Top 7 dogs of each qualifyer will qualify for State Finals. In the 2nd and 3rd qualifying hunt if a dog that places in the top 7 that is already qualified we will move dogs up in that hunt to qualify for the finals.
5. 1 dog per judge maximum. We will accept extra dogs if there is less than 20. Let Mark know if you want extra dogs in hunt when you call to reserve #'s. (We will draw names out of hat for extra dogs (if needed)
6. Call Mark Reimer (320) 968-7722 evening (320) 252-4062 day (320) 267-3215 cell to register numbers (#’s) and be put on a list for extra dogs.
7. Please call one (1) week in advance of 1st hunt (May 17th, 2009) and register for all of the hunts at the same time if possible.
8. In addition to individual Hunt Championship we will have a Series Championship as well.
(Top scored hound in two 2 puppy qualifying hunts and the championship will be named: “MTHA Series State Champion”)
